Privacy Policy

• ✦Photos of your pet. Uploaded on the product page. They are the thing we paint from, so we cannot make a portrait without one.
• ✦Your pet’s name and whether they are a dog or a cat, if you tell us. Used on the artwork and so the studio knows which job is which.
• ✦Your name, email address, delivery address and phone number. Collected at checkout by Shopify, and used to make and post your order.
• ✦An email address for a proof, if you ask to approve a photo of the portrait before it is printed.
• ✦Your email address if you sign up for the welcome discount or the mailing list.
• ✦How you use the site. Pages viewed, what you add to the cart, roughly where you are. Collected through Google Analytics and the Meta pixel, described below.

We never see or store your card details. Payment is handled entirely by Shopify and its payment providers.

If you upload photos but do not complete an order, they are deleted automatically within 72 hours. A job runs every hour and removes them along with any pet name attached. We do not keep them to market to you, and nobody browses them.

If you do order, we keep the photos while we make your portrait and afterwards, so we can reprint it if it arrives damaged, or make another at the same quality if you order again. You can ask us to delete them at any time once your order has arrived.

Order records — what you bought, where it was sent, what you paid — are kept for seven years, as Australian tax law requires.

• ✦Shopify runs our checkout and stores order and customer details.
• ✦Netlify hosts the website and stores the uploaded photos.
• ✦Our printers — Gelato for framed prints and posters, Printful for mugs and puzzles — receive the finished artwork and your delivery address so they can post your order. They do not receive your original photo.
• ✦Google Analytics and Meta (Facebook and Instagram) receive information about how the site is used, including when something is bought, so we can see which advertising works.

These companies store information outside Australia, mostly in the United States and Europe. We do not sell your information to anyone, and we do not give your photos to anyone except as described here.

The site uses cookies to keep your cart between visits and to measure advertising. You can block cookies in your browser; the cart will stop remembering what you picked, but nothing else will break. To stop Meta using your activity for advertising, use the settings in your Facebook or Instagram account.

We only email you about new personas or offers if you asked us to. Every one of those emails has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing is immediate. Emails about an order you placed — confirmations, proofs, delivery updates — are not marketing and are sent regardless.

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Use the contact form or reply to your order confirmation email, and tell us your order number if you have one. We will respond within 30 days.

Deleting your photos is immediate. Deleting an order record is not always possible, because we are required to keep records of sales for tax purposes.

If you think we have mishandled your information, tell us first. If we cannot sort it out, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Uploaded photos are stored under long random addresses that are not listed anywhere and cannot be guessed, are marked so search engines will not index them, and are only reachable through a link on the order. The studio pages that list orders are protected by a key. No system is perfect, but your photo is not sitting in a public folder.

This shop is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 16.

If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and the date at the top. Material changes to how we use photos will also be emailed to anyone with an open order.
